Angel Tree Program registrations now open, assists families in need for holiday season
SALISBURY, Md. – We’re 73 days away from the Christmas holiday, but the Salvation Army of the Lower Eastern Shore hopes you’re already in the giving spirit. Their annual Angel Tree Program is making a return this holiday season.
The program provides families in need assistance to experience the magic of Christmas by collecting clothing and toys for infants to children 14 years old in Worcester, Wicomico, and Somerset counties. Local organizations, individuals, and more are encouraged to adopt an angel to purchase items for.
Something new this year is the option to register online, and they’ve already received upwards of 300 applications.
Captain Angel Simmons said they anticipate they need to be strong and expect to serve about 1,500 kids this year. “The earlier that we have people, the more that we’re able to go to the community and let them know what we need,” Simmons said.
“So that’s why it’s important for everyone to come together and share in the labor of helping others. We want others who may not be as fortunate to see that other people do care about them.”
In-person registrations opens up this Monday, October 16th at the Salvation Army in Salisbury located at 415 Oak Street.
