St. Michaels home destroyed in fire, investigation underway

ST. MICHAELS, Md. – An investigation is underway following a fire that destroyed a St. Michaels home Saturday night.

The fire was reported by a neighbor just before 10 p.m., at 24580 New Post Road. 80 firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze, which took roughly 2.5 hours to control.

Officials say the house was not occupied at the time of the fire, and the cause remains under investigation. Total damage has been estimated at $3 million.
