UPDATE: Somerset Co. Schools dismissing early, shelter opening
SOMERSET CO., Md. – Somerset County Schools will dismiss early today, September 22nd, in advance of the impending storm.
Secondary schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m., while elementary schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m.
In addition, the hurricane shelter at Washington High School will open at 6 p.m. Transportation to the shelter will be provided for those in need from the following locations at 5 p.m.:
- Crisfield Fire Department (a stop will also be made at Marion Fire Department at around 5:30 p.m.)
- Fairmount Fire Department
- Deal Island Fire Department
- Mt. Vernon Fire Department
Residents should bring pillows, blankets, sleeping bags, medications, and personal hygiene items. Anyone with special dietary needs should bring their own supplies. Pets are allowed; residents should bring their pets shot records, medications, and crates if they have them.
