Shatter the Stigma Walk for the end of Wicomico Goes Purple
WOR-WIC COMMUNITY COLLEGE, Md. – Wicomico goes purple and is partnering with Walk Wicomico at Wor-Wic Community College for the Shatter the Stigma Walk.
The walk is aimed at raising awareness for those struggling with substance abuse disorder.
The event will take place this Saturday, at 9:30, with plenty of vendors and activities for the whole community to take part in.
No pre-registration is needed. Anyone can show up the day of and have some fun while also supporting Wicomico goes purple.
Opioid Coordinator for Wicomico County Christiana Bowie-Simpson says, “The tagline for this event is shattering the stigma of addiction one step at a time. This September is national recovery month, so this is how we are ending our Wicomico Goes Purple efforts for this year.”
The event will also have people sharing their personal stories of struggles with addiction.
