Search warrant leads to arrest of Seaford man on drug, firearm charges
SEAFORD, Del. – A Seaford man is behind bars on numerous charges stemming from a search Wednesday morning.
Shortly after 6 a.m., Sussex Special Investigations Detectives were assisted by Delaware State Police, Troop 5 Patrol, Seaford Police Department, and Probation and Parole in executing a search warrant on a residence in the 400 block of North Street. The search warrant was the result of a several-month-long investigation of Avery Cannon, who was suspected of the large-scale distribution of narcotics.
Inside the residence, law enforcement found the following:
- Approximately 1,167.8 grams of cocaine
- Approximately 57.57 grams of crack cocaine
- Approximately 14.26 grams of marijuana
- Five handguns, two of which were loaded and one was reported stolen to Troop 4 in 2014
- Several hundred rounds of ammunition
- Approximately $14,974 in suspected drug dealing money
- Various paraphernalia including digital scales and distribution/packaging materials
Cannon is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. He is being held at SCI on a $232,500 cash bond on a list of charges.
