Salisbury man sentenced to three decades in prison in connection to 2021 murder
SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man has been sentenced to prison for the 2021 murder of a Wicomico County man.
On July 11th, 46-year-old Clifton Jones pleaded guilty to one count of second degree murder and one count of firearm use in a violent crime. The charges stem from an incident on April 24, 2021, Jerome Moss and other associates of Jones visited Jones’ residence on Pocahontas Avenue. For unknown reasons, Jones reportedly went into a bedroom and grabbed a handgun before confronting and shooting Moss multiple times. Moss was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Earlier this week, Jones was sentenced to a total of 60 years behind bars with all but 30 suspended, five of which are a mandatory minimum. On release, he will placed on five years of supervised probation and will be subject to an additional 30 years behind bars if he violates the conditions of his probation.
