Salisbury man arrested for burglary, theft at Cambridge business

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – A man is behind bars following a burglary and theft that took place last week in Cambridge.

During the morning hours of September 15th, officers responded to Best Wine and Spirits in the 2800 block of Ocean Gateway for a reported burglary and theft of cigarettes and alcohol. Before receiving the burglary alert, officers had responded to the Cambridge Inn for a subject who was reportedly trespassing. They made contact with a man, identified as 59-year-old Thomas Fleetwood, discovering that he was in possession of several unopened packs of cigarettes.

When officers arrived at the business, they met with a witness who reported that they saw Fleetwood with a large number of cigarettes and alcohol. Officers located the stolen items hidden in a grassy area in an adjacent parking lot. Store employees were able to identify Fleetwood as the suspect in the burglary, and it was determined that he stole $4,763 worth of items with $216.42 worth being destroyed.

Fleetwood was arrested and charged with second, third, and fourth degree burglary, fourth degree burglary: theft, theft $1500 to under $25000, obstructing and hindering, malicious destruction of property, and other related offenses. He was held without bond.
