Possible flooding in Ocean City amid potential tropical storm

OCEAN CITY, Md. – With a storm on the horizon, local resort towns are preparing to possibly cancel events and experience storm damage.

Ocean city officials are expecting the water and wind to affect the beach. Mayor Rick Meehan said through all of this, the city is doing everything it can to prepare for what could come with the potential tropical storm, and he’s expecting to see some flooding in Ocean City, like in years prior.

“We’re going to start to experience some sustained winds later on tonight through tomorrow afternoon. 35 to 45 miles an hour, with gusts up to 60 miles per hour; moderate flooding where we typically see flooding, we will see some beach erosion, but other than that, if it stays under that forecast, we don’t see any major damage in Ocean City,” Mayor Meehan said.

Mayor Meehan added everyone should use their best judgment, for their own safety.
