Pipe rehabilitation project to begin on Route 50 in Wicomico Co.

SALISBURY, Md. – A pipe rehabilitation project will begin next week on Route 50 near Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.

We’re told preliminary work begins Tuesday, September 5th, but no traffic impacts are expected. Full work on the project is slated to begin Monday, September 11th.

The project includes the installation of barrier walls to create a safe work zone before the repair of a pipe that carries Beaverdam Creek under the road. The project is expected to be completed this fall, weather permitting.

Crews will work weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect complete shoulder closures and intermittent single-lane closures while work is being completed. Additionally, the State Highway Administration will deploy a speed enforcement system in the area. A 21-day warning period will begin on September 11th, and on October 2nd, Maryland State Police will authorize citations for those driving above the posted 55 mph speed limit.
