Pair charged with manslaughter in connection to fatal overdose

EASTON, Md. – Two people have been arrested on grand jury indictments stemming from a reported fatal overdose last year.

The investigation began on September 5, 2022, when officers responded to the 100 block of Prospect Avenue for a report of an unresponsive man. Parademics also responded and pronounced the subject, identified as 28-year-old Cristian Gonzales, deceased.

Further investigation learned that 21-year-old Elina Lazarieva had met with 35-year-old Justin Bodman to obtain controlled dangerous substances. The pair allegedly then traveled to Delaware to obtain heroin, traveling back to Easton and delivering the heroin to Gonzales, who later overdosed.

Bodman was arrested on a grand jury indictment on Tuesday, and has been charged with manslaughter, two counts of CDS distribute narcotics, two counts of distribute/possession with intent to deliver CDS fentanyl/heroin, three counts of CDS possession not cannabis, seven counts of reckless endangerment, and three counts of conspiracy.

Lazarieva was arrested on August 2nd on a grand jury indictment, charging her with manslaughter, two counts of CDS distribute narcotics, two counts of distribute/possession with intent to deliver CDS fentanyl/heroin, two counts of CDS possession with the intent to distribute, three counts of CDS possession not cannabis, three counts of reckless endangerment, and three counts of conspiracy.
