Online accessibility for sports betting getting easier in Delaware

DELAWARE – Online and mobile sports betting may get a lot easier for residents in Delaware.

Gambling Awareness experts say an online sports betting bill was introduced earlier this year that will make online gambling possible through your mobile device or computer.

Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania already have immediate access to online and mobile sports betting.
This now has some raising concerns over a potential increase in problem gambling in Delaware.

“It’s been proven through the years that any increased accessibility is going to lend to more issues,” says John Schmidt with the DE Council on Gambling Problems. “When there is legislation introduced, or more policies introduced, that are going to create more gambling activity and opportunities, normally what comes with that are more cases of disorder gambling.”

Officials say it’s probably going to be early winter before online sports betting will be available in the First State.
