Multiple projects on Eastern Shore to receive funding through Maryland Community Development Block Grant Program
MARYLAND – More than $5 million is being awarded through the Community Development Block Grant program for Fiscal Year 2024 in Maryland.
The grants will support 13 projects in eight counties, including multiple on the Eastern Shore.
- Wicomico County: $320,000 to continue the countywide housing rehabilitation program for low and moderate income homeowners
- Talbot County: $465,000 to construct an addition to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Saints Peter and Paul building, used for food distribution and services for low to moderate income persons in Easton
- Town of Federalsburg (Caroline County): $700,000 for engineering and design for replacement of three sewer pump stations that are over 50 years old and are in disrepair; breakdowns result in overflows into the Marshyhope Creek and Marina Park
- Town of Henderson (Caroline County): $450,000 for road improvements and storm management upgrades to Cook, Mill, and Bell Streets, as the roadway is currently unsafe with poor surfaces and inadequate drainage; the water runoff impacts properties and businesses
“Maryland’s local leaders have their finger on the pulse of their residents and communities, each with its unique needs,” said Secretary Jake Day. “With the partnership of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, we’re excited to be a part of helping cities, counties, and towns across Maryland support these versatile and important projects and activities.”
