Millsboro domestic incident leads to stabbing, man arrested

1280 Davion West

MILTON, Del. – A Millsboro man is behind bars following a domestic incident involving a stabbing early Friday morning.

At around 1:40 a.m., troopers responded to a residence in the 25000 block of River Bend Road in Millsboro for a reported stabbing. The 20-year-old victim, who declined treatment for her injuries, told police that her partner, identified as Davion West, had gone into the bedroom where she and their 9-month-old baby were sleeping. West reportedly woke the victim up, and during the subsequent argument, stabbed her in the leg with a knife. West then fled in a red Mazda 3 that he stole from the residence.

A trooper searching the area saw the Mazda traveling on Harbeson Road in the area of Carpenter Road and tried to stop the vehicle, but it continued fleeing at a high rate of speed. The vehicle eventually lost control and crashed onto private property, at which time West fled on foot through a cornfield.

While searching the area for West, troopers received reports of a subject trespassing and unlawfully entering the garage of a residence on Shingle Point Road in Milton. The subject was identified as West, and he was subsequently arrested. Troopers also recovered a knife in the bedroom of the Millsboro home.

West was charged with first degree burglary, second degree assault, theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child, and numerous additional charges. He was held at SCI on a $84,400 secured bond.
