Maryland Folk Festival hits downtown Salisbury this weekend
SALISBURY, Md. – For many, all roads will lead to downtown Salisbury this weekend. We’re just days away from the Maryland Folk Festival.
If you been downtown in the past few days, you’re well aware that preparations are underway.
Keep in mind that this is the first year that it’s not the National Folk Festival. Despite that, city officials told 47ABC you can expect the same richness of culture. The event will include a market place with craft vendors, a food court, and lots of live music.
Vanessa Junkin with Salisbury’s Arts, Business, and Culture Department said the festival also brings in big bucks for the local economy. “It brings people to our downtown to get to experience the different businesses. Some of our businesses will be doing specials for the folk festival and we’re compiling a list of those things on our website,” Junkin said.
“People stay in our hotels, shop, and dine locally. We just want to continue showing residents and visitors a great a new experience.”
Below is a list of street and lot closures if you’re making plans for your commute.
Junkin said that the parking garage downtown will be open and additional parking options can be found on city’s website.
New this year is the Salisbury University Local Stage which will highlight local musicians.
The festival kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. with the open ceremony.
