Lt. Governor Hall-Long’s campaign finances under audit amid run for Governor

DOVER, Del. – Delaware gubernatorial candidate and current Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long announcing Thursday that her campaign finances are being audited.
“While preparing to launch my campaign for governor, I requested a review of my past campaign finance reports and learned there may have been reporting issues that require attention,” Hall-Long stated in a press release. “I am working with independent campaign finance experts and forensic accountants to thoroughly audit the finances.”
It remains unclear at this time what those potential issues may be. This comes after sources tell us that Senate Democrats held a meeting Thursday to discuss it.
47 ABC News was able to speak to Lt. Governor Hall-Long who reaffirmed that her campaign is not ending after she stated in the press release that for days “some friends and constituents have asked about the status of my campaign.”
“We look forward to the results of the audit and amending any reports as needed,” Hall-Long stated. “I have always been strongly committed to public integrity and transparency, and will continue to uphold those values throughout this campaign.”
We reached out to both the Hall-Long campaign and Senate leadership who have yet to respond to our requests for comment.
Hall-Long announced her bid for Governor earlier this month. She is set to face New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer in the Delaware primary election set for September 10, 2024.
