Tri-County Goes Purple kick-Off held during Shorebirds game
SALISBURY, Md. – With national recovery awareness month in full swing, locals from the tri-county area took to the Shorebirds stadium this evening to show their support. It was all a part of the “Tri-County Goes Purple Kick-Off.”
Organizers say the annual event is the perfect way to bring family and friends together to enjoy some baseball, adding it’s also an opportunity to open up the conversation surrounding substance abuse.
47abc caught up with a few attendees on why they chose to join in such an important cause.
“We’re very big supporters of drug awareness and substance abuse awareness, and we’re happy to see anything that’s going to benefit our community here, because we know that there’s a big problem,” Pat Higginbothan said.
“The problem is huge, evidently; I didn’t know how big it was, but I keep hearing more and more about some of the issues that are out there,” Dennis Higginbothan added.
Eventgoers were able to see the Shorebirds play and stop at tents to get more information about recovery awareness month. For more on upcoming Wicomico Goes Purple events click here.
