“I will be very persistent:” Easton town council president seat now filled
EASTON, Md.- Over in Easton, the town council has been looking to fill the position of president since May. Frank Gunsallus will now hold that seat following a recent special election.
Gunsallus ran for the Ward 1 seat back in May but lost in a very close race. Although new to politics, he told 47ABC his experience in government affairs and with the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce will help him in this role.
He said his focus is on public safety, affordable housing, and creating more job opportunities. “I believe that they see how hard I work in all facets of my life, and I think that was the deciding factor for them to have me be the leader of the town’s legislative branch. I will be very persistent and judicious in my efforts,” Gunsallus said.
Gunsallus added that the council will soon be discussing potential cannabis dispensaries coming to the area and inclusionary zoning. Both topics are scheduled for Monday’s council meeting.
Gunsallus will serve a 20-month term.
