Federalsburg man killed in early morning crash, police investigating

FEDERALSBURG, Md. – A Federalsburg man was killed in a crash early Wednesday morning.

At around 6:30 a.m., deputies with the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 4310 Smithville Road for a reported single vehicle crash. It was determined that the vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, had left the roadway in an attempt to avoid a fallen tree in the road, subsequently hitting another tree.

The driver, identified as Steven Keene Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say speed, wet road conditions, and lack of seatbelt use are factors in this crash.
