UPDATE: Fatal crash under investigation in Felton

9/15 UPDATE: Police have identified the victim in this crash as 44-year-old Justin Zacheis of Woodside.

FELTON, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that left one dead in Felton Wednesday morning.

According to police, around 7:30 a.m., a Volvo truck tractor with an empty trailer was stopped at Burnite Mill Road intersection.

When the Volvo turned onto Burnite Mill Road, the trailer blocked a 2003 Ford F-65’s path.

The driver of the Ford F-65, identified as a 44-year-old man from Woodside, swerved to avoid colliding with the trailer but was unable to. Both the Ford and the Volvo were forced off the road and into the soybean field off Sandtown Road.

The driver of the Ford F-65 was found dead at the scene. The driver of the Volvo, identified as a 48-year-old man from Bear, was uninjured.
