Delmar man arrested on multiple charges following pursuit
DELMAR, Del. – A Delmar man is behind bars following a pursuit Monday night.
According to police, the investigation began just before 9 p.m., when a trooper on patrol in the area of Susan Beach Road and White Deer Road observed a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo being driven by 33-year-old William Timmons, who was known to be wanted. The trooper subsequently initiated a traffic stop, but Timmons disregarded the signal and fled at a high rate of speed.
After a brief pursuit, the vehicle came to a stop in the driveway of a residence in the 6000 block of White Deer Road. Timmons reportedly disregarded multiple verbal commands by troopers to get out of the vehicle and continued resisting arrest until he was eventually taken into custody. Inside the car, troopers found drug paraphernalia and a bayonet on the back seat.
Timmons was charged with multiple drug and weapons offenses, as well as resisting arrest. He was held at SCI on a $26,710 cash bond.
