Clayton man linked to three recent burglaries in Dover
DOVER, Del. – A Clayton man has been linked to three recent burglaries in the Dover area.
The investigation began shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, when officers responded to the Cinnabon at 1051 North DuPont Highway for a report of a suspect that had broken into the business. Officers arrived at the scene and located the suspect, identified as 53-year-old Scott Ottinger.
Police spoke with employees of the business, who reported that on September 7th, a suspect broke into the business and stole money. Surveillance footage confirmed that Ottinger was responsible for that burglary as well. Additionally, he was found to be responsible for the burglary at the County Eatery that took place last week.
Ottinger was charged with three counts of third degree burglary, three counts of theft under $1500, and two counts of criminal mischief, and was released on a $7,700 unsecured bond.
