EASTERN SHORE. – Big Brother, Big Sister of the Eastern Shore is looking for volunteers to help support their organization.
Officials said as kids head back to school, volunteers play a crucial role in accompanying the students.
Director of the Eastern Shore organization Jessica Mimms said the high demand is putting a strain on the support they can provide to local students; however, your help can make a difference.
“We could use 60 volunteers right away; it does take a couple weeks to process those volunteers,” Mimms. said. “We do background checks, we check references; We do our due diligence as any parent would want us to.”
Big Brother Big Sister of the Eastern Shore said they currently have a wait list of over 70 kids they are hoping to help.
All volunteers must be at least 18 years old and must be available to help for at least 6 months to be eligible.
