Annual Wine Fest in Ocean City, Saturday
OCEAN CITY. – With summertime coming to an end, the flow of vineyards hasn’t stopped quite yet, and they ended up in Ocean City.
Every year, wine lovers from near and far trek to Ocean City for the annual wine fest. Two of those fanatics are Nicole and Michael and Wells.
“We’re from Pennsylvania and this is our sixth year at the wine fest,” The Wells couple said.
The event gives vendors, like the Urban Winery, owned by Damon Callis, the opportunity showcase their wonderful wines.
“It’s a fun experience,” Callis said. “As wine producers, we get to come share our wines and we get a lot of love from people coming from Pennsylvania, Delaware, and here, in Maryland.”
And wine enthusiasts, like Paul Harley and Chris Schaefer, were able to sip and stroll.
“We went around twice; this is the second time around and there’s 10 wineries,” The two said.
Event coordinator Christina Nokes said the event gives smaller wine brands the perfect opportunity to bring their flavors to the hands of customers.
“For the wineries, it’s to get them in front of the public,” Nokes said. “There’s a lot of mom-and-pop places that people don’t get to see, so getting them here gets people to visit local wineries all in one location.”
For the Wells’, they hope to continue their tradition of attending the festival, and bring a few plus ones eventually, too.
“This will go on for the next 10 years, god willing, and we’ll hopefully get our kids to join– not yet, but hopefully with a little bit of time,” the two said.
