Upcoming expo puts spotlight on local minority-owned businesses

SALISBURY, Md.- August marks National Black Business Month and celebrations are slated for downtown Salisbury with the first-ever Black Friday Business Expo.

Faith Over Fear Economic Empowerment Inc. is spearheading the initiative. The nonprofit tells us the goal is to highlight local minority owned businesses, as several are located right here on the plaza.

35 businesses will have the opportunity to network and brand themselves on a bigger scale. Executive Director Angela Morton says that will be a big benefit as marketing is one of the biggest challenges for those entrepreneurs. “This is just helping get their word out and it’s a free event. We’re not charging for them to vend, so this is the perfect opportunity to market your business,” Morton said.

“We are trying to bring awareness and working to increase sustainability because we want them to be around.”

That event will be this Friday, August 11th from 4:00pm-8:00pm in the downtown plaza in Salisbury.
