SEAFORD, Del. – Three people have been charged in connection to a burglary and pursuit that took place early Wednesday morning.

Just before 6:30 a.m., officers responded to the Stoney Brook Apartment Complex for a report of suspicious persons wearing all-black clothing and full face masks in the area. Officers arrived at the scene and found a subject matching the description walking through the field toward a vehicle, carrying a bag. The subject got into the driver’s seat of the vehicle, and the officer attempted a traffic stop, at which point the suspect reportedly fled through the apartment complex with a cloth covering the vehicle’s registration plate.

Officers pursued the vehicle eastbound on Tharp Road to Middleford Road as the vehicle continued traveling at a high rate of speed, passing vehicles in a no-passing zone. During the chase, officers were advised that a witness saw three subjects wearing ski masks flee from behind the Express Liquor store. The vehicle continued onto Mellin Road, where it eventually came to a stop, and all three suspects got out and fled into the woods.

Officers began searching the area for the three suspects, at which time they learned that a subject was knocking on doors wearing all black and asking for a ride. That subject, later identified as a juvenile, was located and detained. A Seaford officer found another male juvenile still wearing a ski mask on his head, and an adult male, later identified as Joshua Singh, walking along Old Furnace Road.

Further investigation revealed that the subjects had burglarized the liquor store, stealing several bottles of liquor and cash.

Warrants were obtained for all three subjects for second degree burglary, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, possession of burglary tools, theft under $1500, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and possession of alcohol under 21. One juvenile was also charged with various motor vehicle infractions as a result of the pursuit. The two juveniles were released to their parents, while Singh was held at SCI on an $11,500 bond.
