Severe weather causes two structure fires in Worcester Co.

WORCESTER CO., Md. – Officials say severe weather is believed to be the cause of two separate fires in Worcester County Saturday night.

The first fire was reported just after 8:30 p.m., at 7233 Whiton Road in Snow Hill. Firefighters from multiple departments in the area battled the significant barn fire for approximately three hours.

Roughly two hours later, firefighters were called to 1011 Clark Avenue for a reported structure fire. Crews from multiple departments battled this blaze for approximately two hours. Two tenants were displaced as a result of this fire and are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Fire marshals say the exact cause of both fires remains under investigation, but severe weather is believed to be a contributing factor in both.
