DELMAR, Del. – A three car crash early Monday morning in Delmar claimed the life of a Delmar woman and injured three others.
At around 6:15 a.m., police say a maroon 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was traveling southbound on Sussex Highway, just south of West Snake Road. At the same time, a black 2012 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on Sussex Highway approaching East Snake Road, with a silver 2006 Chevrolet Impala traveling behind it. For unknown reasons, we’re told the Monte Carlo began sliding to its left and went into the grass median, crossing over into the northbound lanes of Sussex Highway and colliding with the Camry. This sent both cars spinning, and the Monte Carlo hit the Impala.
The driver of the Monte Carlo, a 19-year-old Seaford man, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the Camry, a 51-year-old Delmar woman, was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. A 55-year-old man who was riding as a passenger in the Camry was taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Impala, a 64-year-old Salisbury man, was taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
