Seaford man arrested for firearm offenses, reckless endangerment

SEAFORD, Del. – A Seaford man is behind bars following an incident that took place early Tuesday morning.

Troopers responded to the 34000 block of Susan Beach Road shortly after midnight for multiple reports of an unknown man knocking on doors. Troopers arrived at the scene and made contact with the suspicious man, identified as 35-year-old Jermaine Thomas, and discovered that he was heavily intoxicated and concealing a firearm. A struggle reportedly ensued while troopers were taking Thomas into custody, resulting in Thomas’ firearm discharging in the immediate area of the troopers.

Thomas was subsequently taken into custody, and the firearm was recovered from where it had fallen onto the ground. There were no reported injuries. It was also discovered that the recovered firearm was reported as stolen.

Thomas was held at SCI on a $45,000 cash bond after being charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed firearm, two counts of first degree reckless endangerment, receiving a stolen firearm, resisting arrest, and possession of a firearm while under the influence.
