Seaford felon arrested on gun and drug charges

SEAFORD, Del. – A Seaford man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on gun possession and drug dealing charges.

At around 3:40 p.m., members of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force responded to the 400 block of Little Creek Apartments after receiving information that Jeremiah Handy was selling drugs in the area and had a gun. When detectives arrived at the scene, they found Handy standing behind the 400 building with a handgun in his waistband. Handy reportedly began reaching for the gun, but detectives were able to take him into custody.

The loaded handgun was recovered, and police also found approximately 60.42 grams of marijuana in his backpack, as well as more than $2,100 in suspected drug dealing money in his pockets and bag.

Handy, who is a probationer and a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms, was held at SCI on a $170,500 cash bond on a list of firearm and drug charges.
