Pair arrested on drug, firearm charges in Dover

DOVER, Del. – Two men are behind bars following a traffic stop in the Dover area Sunday night.

At around 8:40 p.m., an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle in the area of South New Street and West Loockerman Street after the vehicle committed a traffic violation. When the officer approached the vehicle, the smell of burnt marijuana was detected coming from inside, leading to a search of the vehicle. That search resulted in the discovery of a Glock 22 handgun, 71 grams of MDMA, 32 grams of marijuana, 5 grams of cocaine, and a large amount of money.

The driver, 46-year-old Donald Demby, and the passenger, 37-year-old William Bessicks, were both taken into custody.

Demby was held at SCI on a $79,100 cash bail on a list of drug and firearm charges, while Bessicks was held on a $60,202 secured bail on numerous drug and firearm charges, as well as traffic offenses.
