OCEAN CITY, Md. – Two people have been arrested in connection to an armed robbery that took place in early June.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on June 3rd, police responded to Constitutional Avenue for a reported armed robbery. The victim told police that three men approached him while he was outside. One of the suspects reportedly pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded his personal belongings, at which point the victim complied.

The victim was able to provide police with a description of the suspect vehicle, and using the license plate reader system, officers were able to determine when the vehicle entered Ocean City, as well as the vehicle’s registration information. A description of the vehicle and suspects was shared with allied law enforcement agencies in Maryland and Delaware.

It was later learned that two robberies had taken place in Delaware after the one in Ocean City. There was a robbery and attempted carjacking in Millsboro and an attempted carjacking in Georgetown. Delaware State Police and Georgetown Police were able to confirm that their suspect descriptions matched Ocean City’s. As the investigation continued, detectives learned that the suspects may have been in the Washington D.C. area and began working with the Washington Metro Police Department and Capital Police.

On July 7th, detectives learned that Capital Police tried to stop the suspect vehicle, but the vehicle fled and led officers on a brief pursuit. The two occupants, later identified as Dremale Vanterpool and Torrance Brock, abandoned the vehicle during the chase and fled on foot. Both were arrested by Capital Police.

It was further determined that Vanterpool and Brock were involved in the armed robbery in Ocean City on June 3rd. Vanterpool is being held without bond, while Brock is incarcerated in North Carolina on unrelated charges. An arrest warrant has been issued for Brock for the charges related to this incident.
