Local nonprofit hosts investment boot camp for minority owned businesses, expands financial literacy
SALISBURY, Md. Faith Over Fear Economic Empowerment Inc. is educating local minority owned businesses on financial literacy with their investment mini boot camp.
It’s all thanks to the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s Women’s Fund Awards.
The nonprofit says the goal is to help those entrepreneurs learn more about investing and accessing capital.
Executive Director Angela Morton says gaining more knowledge will help them sustain their businesses. “You want different streams of funding, so this could be added as another stream of funding to help set that foundation. As they want to grow their business, they’ll need to have different sources of revenue,” Morton said.
The funds also helped support the group’s trip to wall street in NYC where they’re learned more about stocks and bonds.
Morton tells 47ABC the hope is to make the boot camp an annual effort.
