Laurel man arrested for robbery at truck stop

LAUREL, Del. – A Laurel man is behind bars following an early morning robbery on Tuesday.

At around 2 a.m., troopers responded to the Oasis Travel Plaza for a reported robbery that had just occurred. It was learned that the suspect had walked into the store, put his hand in his pocket, and threatened to shoot the cashier if she did not open the cash register drawer. The victim complied, and the suspect stole money and cigarettes before fleeing the scene.

The victim was not injured. Troopers were able to obtain surveillance video of the incident.

Later that morning, at around 9 a.m., Seaford Police responded to the M&T Bank located at 22920 Sussex Highway for a robbery involving the same suspect, identified as 40-year-old Toshawn Furlow. Troopers searched for Furlow in the surrounding area, and at approximately 3 p.m., law enforcement and EMS personnel responded to the 1000 building of the Hollybrook Farms Apartment complex in Laurel for a medical call. Furlow was located in the apartment and subsequently taken into custody.

Furlow was charged with first degree robbery, two counts of theft under $1500, and menacing. He was also charged with robbery, terroristic threatening, and theft by the Seaford Police Department for the M&T Bank robbery.

Furlow was held at SCI on a $62,100 cash bond.
