Habitat for Humanity helping the Para family in Salisbury

New Home For Para Family

SALISBURY, Md. – Habitat for Humanity is helping yet another family become homeowners of an affordable place to live.

“Many families that are hard working that might not qualify for a conventional mortgage, we are able to make that happen.”

Friday marks the official celebration for the Para family becoming homeowners.
All thanks to help from Habitat for Humanity.

“The Para family over the last 12 months has been working with their partnership agreement with us, which is the completion 300 sweat equity hours working alongside volunteers and donors to learn construction and help us complete projects.”

Habitat President Molly Hilligoss says the Para family will pay for the home with volunteer hours and a heavily discounted mortgage.

“So they were paying it forward while we were working on their home.”

They weren’t alone volunteers from Perdue Farms helped with the project Chairman Jim Perdue says volunteerism is important to their team.

“We did the painting for the primer coat so it took us all day to paint the whole house inside,” Perdue said. “So its a good way for us to build our team together and do something different than our normal job and at the same time help habitat get this house ready for the family.”

It’s a home they wouldn’t have been able to comfortably afford without the help of the community.
Wilany De la Cruz says her family is eternally grateful that Habitat for Humanity and Partnering Organizations continue to help families like theirs looking for the American Dream.
