Fire destroys Parsonsburg garage

PARSONSBURG, Md. – A Parsonsburg garage was destroyed in a fire Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to 34085 Laws Road at around 4:15 p.m. for a reported fire in a garage. Firefighters battled the blaze for roughly 45 minutes before it was brought under control.

State fire marshals were called in to investigate, determining that the fire was accidental in nature, caused by heat from grass clippings under the mower deck of a Kubota tractor recently used for mowing. A nearby outbuilding also sustained fire damage.

Total damage has been estimated at $160,000.
