Early morning fire destroys Easton home

EASTON, Md. – An investigation is underway following an early morning fire that destroyed an Easton home.

A passerby noticed the fire at the house, located at 8591 Marengo Farm Road, at around 3:15 a.m. and contacted the fire department. Smoke alarms alerted the resident to the blaze, who was able to successfully escape with his dog.

Firefighters battled the fire for roughly three hours before it was brought under control.

Officials say one adult male sustained burn injuries and was taken to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton for treatment. He was later transferred to Bayview Medical Center for continued treatment.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation. Total damage has been estimated at $1 million.
