Dover man arrested for possession of firearm, drugs
DOVER, Del. – A Dover man is behind bars after he was found in possession of a handgun and crystal meth Wednesday night.
At around 10 p.m., a trooper assigned to the Governor’s Task Force reportedly saw a bicyclist merge onto northbound N. Dupont Highway from White Oak Road without using a hand signal. The trooper stopped the man, identified as 35-year-old Andrew Sheppard, and discovered that he had brass knuckles and several knives in his possession. A bag of crystal methamphetamine was also seen falling out of Sheppard’s pocket.
Troopers subsequently searched Sheppard’s backpack, finding a semi-automatic handgun, approximately 5.78 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and a meth pipe. It was also learned that Sheppard is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms.
Sheppard was charged with multiple drug and firearm possession charges and held at SCI on a $15,101 secured bond.
