Camper fire claims life of 80-year-old man in Worcester Co.

STOCKTON, Md. – A camper fire early Saturday morning claimed the life of a Stockton man.

Shortly before 9 a.m., firefighters and EMS crews responded to the 400 block of Silva Road for a reported camper trailer explosion with a burn injury. It was discovered that a camper trailer at the residence had experienced an over-pressurization, and an 80-year-old man suffered burn injuries on over 90% of his body.

The patient was treated at the scene before being taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. His name is being withheld at this time.

Fire marshals determined that the victim was trying to use the stove inside the trailer at the time of the incident, and evidence at the scene was consistent with a propane gas explosion. The cause was determined to be accidental.
