Brandywine Valley SPCA hosts adoption event

GEORGETOWN, DE. – A local adoption agency rescued a few furry friends and opened their doors to families who want to take those companions home.

Director of communications Sara Smith said over a dozen dogs were taken out of unlivable environments and were given a second chance at a fulfilling life.

“We have 14 dogs that we rescued and some of them are puppies as young as five months, three months, and we have adult dogs too,and they’re scared; they really just want your love,” Smith said.

Smith said a little TLC is all these dogs need.

“That ideal home for one of these dogs is going to be one where they’re going to get the love care and space that they need, and that’s really what matters,” Smith said.

Adopter David Mckenry said he knew Roy was his dog, the moment he laid eyes on him.

The recent passing of his late family dog is what brought David to the adoption agency, looking for a new family addition.

“He just seemed like the one,” Mckenry said. “We have always had dogs of some sort; we had a rescue and another dog that passed away earlier this year and it’s just time for us to give another one a good home.”

It’s a new leash on life for these dogs, but smith says her facility is just doing their part,
one pup at a time.

“We are just So excited and so grateful to be a bridge for these dogs,” Smith said. “They’ve been living in really tough conditions for maybe their whole lives and now it’s time for us to give them that promise of a new future.”
