back-to-school event coming to Wicomico Civic Center, Aug. 26th
WICOMICO COUNTY. – In just over a week, students and parents will get the chance to take part in a back-to-school event at the Wicomico Civic Center.
The School Year Fresh Start event is taking place on Saturday, August 26th, from noon to 3:00 p.m.
Tara O’Barsky, the supervisor of family, community and school programs for the county board of education, said it’s a great way for the community to get together and get ready for the upcoming school year.
“This event is not about giving out school supplies, but it’s about preparing a holistic approach for families,” O’Barsky said. “It’s about preparing the whole family for a fresh start to the school year; mental health resources, physical health resources, housing resources– a plethora of community agencies are coming to help families with not just school needs, but overall life needs.”
All families in the Wicomico County school district are welcome to attend. Kids entering kindergarten and up will get free backpacks, school supplies, haircuts and can participate in family activities.
