2023 Football Preview: Seaford Blue Jays

SEAFORD, Del — The Seaford Blue Jays are a squad that put on a show last season. They scored a whopping 34 per game last season, setting the 1A on fire before losing a shootout to St. Elizabeth in the DIAA playoffs, but Seaford’s roster from last season and this season are drastically different.

Gone is quarterback Careen Bolden, all-state receiver Avyion Matthews, and former head coach Mark Quillan. But the new head coach Austin Perry and other players are ready to step up.

Being an underdog, I guess you can say. A lot of people see big names that have left the district which is fine, those boys know how I feel about them. There’s some new kids in town and new kids willing to step up and take the reigns of the offense and defense and I just want people to know that Seaford is in good hands. I expect our kids to show them that starting on August 31st when Woodbridge comes to town for Week 0,” Perry said.
