Worcester County Sheriff’s Office to receive ARV, push to increase public safety
WORCESTER COUNTY, Md.- The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office will soon have a new tool to increase public safety.
Worcester County Commissioners recently approved $324,000 for the purchase of an armored rescue vehicle (ARV). We’re told it has the ability to hold up to 12 deputies at a time.
Sheriff Matt Crisafulli tells us the vehicle will be a big benefit especially in highly violate situations and in the event of a natural disaster.
He says this has been in the works for more than decade adding it will play a critical role in not only saving the lives of residents but those on the frontline. “We’re starting to see more standoffs and more mass casualty incidents. Having this type of equipment in our back yard can greatly increase the chances of minimizing, reducing, and eliminating casualties,” Sheriff Crisafulli said.
Sheriff Crisafulli says they’re now in the bidding process, adding it will be close to a year before the vehicle will hit the grounds of Worcester County. The ARV has an estimated price tag of just over $321,000.
