1280 Armed Carjacking

HEBRON, Md. – Three teens have been charged in connection to an armed robbery and carjacking that happened Thursday morning in Hebron.

Just after 11:30 a.m., deputies responded to the 200 block of N. Main Street for a reported armed robbery. The victim told police that he was in the parking lot working when he was approached by three teen suspects, who then assaulted him and tried to take his work truck and additional property. One suspect also allegedly displayed a handgun during the incident.

Police say the suspects were not able to successfully drive away with the vehicle due to the vehicle’s manual transmission. The suspects subsequently stalled the vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies were able to catch two of the suspects after a brief pursuit, and a third was tracked to a backyard nearby where he was hiding.

Two of the suspects, identified as 16-year-old Jacob Hughes and 17-year-old Chayse Pugh, were charged as adults and ordered held without bond on various armed robbery, attempted robbery, carjacking, and assault charges.

The third suspect, a 15-year-old male, was released to his mother as ordered by the Department of Juvenile Services. The same juvenile was reportedly charged for a strong armed robbery of a local restaurant employee in May of 2023.
