Teen arrested in connection to April shooting that killed one, injured another in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – Police have arrested a 16-year-old wanted for the fatal shooting of a teenager back in April.

Shortly after midnight on April 16th, Salisbury Police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 300 block of E. Carroll Street near Buena Vista Avenue. Officers arrived at the scene to find two victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds each.

16-year-old Ja’siah Johnson was taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional where he was pronounced dead. 22-year-old Jamere Maynes was also taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional for treatment of his injuries.

Maryland State Police arrested a 16-year-old male from Salisbury on Thursday in connection to the incident. His identity is being withheld at this time due to his age. He was arrested Thursday morning in Baltimore City and taken to the Maryland State Police Glen Burnie Barrack before being transferred to the Wicomico County Detention Center where he is being held without bail pending an initial appearance in Circuit Court.

The teen is charged with first and second degree murder, attempted murder, and other related charges.
