Sussex Co. offering cooling stations as temperatures continue to increase
SUSSEX CO., Del. – Sussex County has announced that several cooling stations will open across the county as temperatures continue increasing throughout the week.
Temperatures the next several days are forecast to soar into the mid and upper 90s with heat index values at or exceeding 100 degrees.
Sussex County officials are reminding the public that select facilities are always available in the summer during regular business hours.
The following air-conditioned sites are available:
- County Admin Building – 2 The Circle, Georgetown
- Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Greenwood Library – 100 Mill Street, Greenwood
- Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Milton Library – 121 Union Street, Milton
- Monday & Tuesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday & Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday & Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- South Coastal Library – 43 Kent Avenue, Bethany Beach
- Monday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday & Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday & Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
