Shark Tank casting call planned in Salisbury July 7
SALISBURY, Md. – Entrepreneurs will have their chance to make a pitch to be on the hit ABC show Shark Tank next week. 47 ABC WMDT, Wor Wic Community College and Maryland Capital Enterprises are hosting the only in-person casting call on the East Coast on July 7. The event will be held at the Hazel Center at Wor Wic Community College.
Supervising Casting Producer Mindy Zemrak says, “We’re really excited to be returning to Salisbury, Maryland for an open call. It’s our second one this year.”
Zemrak says they haven’t been traveling or seeing anyone in person in about four years. The casting team is flying in to Salisbury to hear your best pitch. Entrepreneurs will get one minute to talk about their idea, product or business and then it’s the casting producers turn to grill you.
“We’ll ask a couple of follow up questions that are very similar to what you see on the show. How you came up with this, what you need an investment for, how much money you’ve invested, what your sales are, do you have a patent or not?” says Zemrak. “So it’s very straight forward and it’s very similiar to what the Sharks ask.”
Producers are currently casting for season 15. While there is no premiere date set yet, it is expected to premiere sometime this Fall. Those who pitch can expect to hear sometime in about two weeks if they are picked to move forward in the process, because Zemrak says that’s when casting will wrap up for the season.
“It’s a very simple process when they arrive at the venue that morning at 9AM, we’ll start handing out wristbands . . . if they don’t have an application with them on hand, we’ll hand them one right then and there and then they’ll be given a time to return later that day,” Zemrak explains.
Line up starts at 7AM at the Hazel Center, no one is allowed to line up before then. Everyone in line will be given a wristband between 9AM-11AM. Actual interviews will start at 10AM. There is no pre-registration for the event.
