Salvation Army of the Lower Eastern Shore reveals new officers
SALISBURY, Md.- In Salisbury, the community got the chance to welcome The Salvation Army of the Lower Shore’s newest officers.
Lt. Shawn Simmons and Captain Angel Simmons come to the shore from Southern Virginia. They have 3 young daughters who now call the shore home as well.
They tell us they’re looking to connect with youth groups, the aging population, and community organizations.
Outreach will also be another big focus for the duo, adding their goal is to serve all who call Delmarva home. “I have a passion for working with kids. As far as growing up, I did go to a Boys and Girls Club so I know what it’s like to be a part of that program. Coming here to the Salvation Army and knowing we have 2 local clubs, that just blesses my heart,” Lt. Simmons said.
“Something that we’re big on is finding ways to fill gaps. We’re trying to meet people, find out what gaps there are in the community and ways we can jump in and help,” Captain Simmons said.
Combined, both officers have 13 years of service with the Salvation Army.
They tell 47ABC they’re excited to explore and serve Delmarva.
