Police investigating after Laurel man found dead at recycling center

LAUREL, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating the death of a Laurel man.

According to police, 54-year-old Lorenzo Gomez-Lopez was found dead during the afternoon hours of June 21st, at the Delaware Recycling Center located at 1101 Lambson Lane in New Castle. It was reported that Gomez-Lopez, who was not an employee of the recycling center, was found by employees. His cause of death is unknown at this time, and autopsy results are pending.

Gomez-Lopez was last seen on June 18th, sitting outside a home in the 9000 block of Yew Drive in Laurel at around 2 p.m. He was not there when the family returned around 7 p.m., and his whereabouts before his body was discovered are unknown.
