Piedmont Airlines hosting upcoming open house for several available positions

SALISBURY, Md.- Are you interested in a career in aviation without going in debt? Piedmont Airlines wants you to come out to their open house session.

In Salisbury, the airline currently has 10 openings for Aircraft Maintenance Technicians.

Those in attendance will learn more about that role and their Tuition Payment Program. The program actually pays tuition to one of the five schools the airline partners with and will provide a Sonic toolbox to graduates for them to start their careers. That’s valued at upwards of $5,000.

Aircraft Maintenance Director Kurt Yorgey says they’re now reaching a crisis mode for techs. He says they expect to see upwards of 40% of their current workforce retiring in the upcoming years. “The numbers are kind of staggering to see how much of a need there’s going to be just in the next few years. It’s been that way,” Yorgey said.

“It isn’t a concern anymore of going to school and not knowing if you’ll come out with a job. Every airline is in need of mechanics. They’re going to be in need of them for years to come.”

To reap the benefits of the program, students will have to commit to two years of employment with the airline.

Recent high school graduates and those with a background in mechanics are encouraged to apply. Those without prior experience are still welcome to come out as well.

The event will be Tuesday, July 11th at Piedmont Headquarters at the Salisbury Airport from 5-7:30PM.
