One killed, several injured in Felton crash

FELTON, Del. – Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a Connecticut woman Sunday evening.

Shortly after 7 p.m., police say a 2005 Cadillac CTS was traveling southbound on Route 13, north of Killens Pond Road. At the same time, a 2021 Jeep Wrangler was reportedly traveling northbound in the right lane of Route 13, north of Killens Pond Road.

For unknown reasons, the driver of the Cadillac lost control and crossed over the grassy median into the northbound lanes of Route 13, in front of the Jeep. The Cadillac hit the Jeep as a result.

The right rear passenger of the Jeep, an 87-year-old Connecticut woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld pending notification of family members.

The driver of the Jeep, a 69-year-old woman, as well as two additional passengers, a 69-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man, all from Connecticut, were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Cadillac, a 26-year-old Philadelphia woman, was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. A 1-year-old boy in the Cadillac was reportedly not properly restrained in a child seat and was ejected during the crash. The child was taken to a local children’s hospital for non-life threatening injuries. A 23-year-old Dover man who was a front seat passenger in the Cadillac was flown by DSP Aviation to a local trauma center for non-life threatening injuries.

This crash remains under investigation.
